The 141st running of the Irish Derby was held on Sunday 2 July 2006 over 1 mile 4 furlongs of The Curragh. Subscriptions were €23,500 with a first prize of €847,500. The winner was owned by Mrs Susan Magnier and Mr Michael Tabor, bred by Tower Bloodstock in Ireland, trained by Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle, and ridden by Kieren Fallon. The winner won by 3 1/2 lengths in 2 minutes 29.7 seconds, with 1 1/2 lengths between second and third. |
